Poor Harry

Harry was a ginger tom who lived not far from us

And it was very evident, in people he'd lost his trust.

He never really had a home, although he had an owner

Who, when it came to vet fees, he was the biggest moaner.

He never had him doctored and never vaccinated

Money spent on things like that, was something he just hated.

Harry disappeared for several weeks, the owner thought him dead

But later when I met him, "Harry's back" to me he said.

By the state of Harry, he should have seen a vet

But that would mean to do so he'd become an expensive pet.

Then one day this chap moved and left the cat behind

So eventually he lived with us in the shed, he didn't mind.

He had to live in the garden shed, he could not live with us

Because our cat who had been a stray created such a fuss.

He wasn't going to share his lot, our house was his alone

But Harry quickly settled for the shed, to be his new found home.

At first he wasn't friendly - he'd seldom been indoors

And by the looks of his poor face, he'd been in lots of wars.

Several teeth were broken and his jaw was out of place

His eyes were also slightly crossed, his was not a pretty face.

We wanted him to become friendly, before taking him to F.A.I.T.H.

And hope some kind hearted person would give him a loving place.

So after many months of effort, the time was getting near,

When we could take him up there and leave him without fear.

Imagine then our heartbreak when suddenly he was taken ill

Before he could be rescued - to live he'd lost the will.

The vet gave him an injection but he already knew

There was no saving Harry - he had Fatal Feline Flu.

So dear reader please remember and also please take heed

That for your cat to die of cat flu, there really is no need.

For this is the tale of poor Harry, that need never have been told

Because he was quite a young cat with no chance of growing old.
